As an incoming freshman, college can seem a little overwhelming; applications, housing, scholarships, deadlines. So we decided to make things a little easier for you. Below are things that every college student needs to know.
I submitted my online application to SWOSU... what do I do next?
Now that you’ve submitted your online application, you now need to send us an official high school transcript, ACT/SAT scores, and concurrent transcripts (if applicable). Once your transcripts and scores have been received, you should hear from us within approximately 10 days regarding your acceptance to SWOSU.
How do I reserve my spot in the Residence Halls?
Once you have been admitted to SWOSU, you will need to fill out a Residence Hall Application.. Keep in mind the residence halls are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. The sooner you turn in your application, the more likely you are to be assigned the hall you prefer. Freshmen are encouraged, but not required to live in the Residence Halls.
What if I change my mind after submitting my Residence Hall Application and deposit?
If you are planning on coming to SWOSU for the Fall semester, then just let us know by July 1 and we will refund your $100 deposit. If you are coming for the Spring semester however, we cannot refund your deposit. You will need to call Residence Life at 580.774.3024 about a refund. For more information about housing, take a look at their Residence Life webpage.
What scholarships are available at SWOSU and how do I apply?
As long as you are admitted by March 1st, you will automatically be considered for all Freshman Academic Scholarships. A list of these scholarships and other financial aid information can be found on our Student Financial Services webpage. If this date has passed, don’t panic! You still have time to fill out the online FAFSA. If you are not a resident of Oklahoma, be sure to check out the criteria for the Nonresident Tuition Scholarship.
How do I enroll in my classes?
Once you have been admitted to SWOSU, you will receive a brochure in the mail from our New Student Orientation office with instructions on how to sign up for an enrollment session. Want to know more? Contact the NSO office at 580.774.3233 or take a look at their website.
How do I see the residence halls and take a look at the campus?
The Admissions and Recruitment office handles all campus tours. You can schedule a tour online or call our office at 580.774.3782 to set up your tour.
Who should I contact if I have more questions later?
The Admissions and Recruitment office! You can call us at 580.774.3782 or email us at admissions@swosu.edu.
