Mission Statement
The mission of the Parks and Recreation Management (PRM) Department is to facilitate the development of professionals in the fields of parks and recreation management, sport management, park law enforcement and wildland fire management.
The Parks & Recreation Management (PRM) Department has the following objectives:
- To provide the future parks and recreation professional with skills necessary to develop exceptional programs.
- To offer four-year courses of study leading to the Bachelor of Science in Parks and Recreation Management and the Bachelor of Science in Park Law Enforcement
- To offer courses of study leading to the Master of Education in Parks and Recreation Management and the Master of Education in Sports Management.
- To offer specialized coursework including parks and recreation management, adventure programming, parks and wildlife law enforcement, and wildland fire management.
- To offer minor programs in Parks and Recreation Management, Park Law Enforcement, and Wildland Fire Management. Additional areas of certification include the aquatics specialist and outdoor education specialist certificates.
- To provide for all students a variety of programs and courses designed to assist them in gaining skills and knowledge in parks, recreation, adventure, law enforcement and wildland fire management activities.
- To provide and assist the parks and recreation profession with expertise and information.
