SWOSU Student Groups Receive Money from Allocations Committee

Student activity fees have now been distributed by the SWOSU Student Allocations Committee on the Weatherford campus.

Dean of Students Cindy Dougherty, who is a member of the committee, said the seven-person group had over $136,000 in requests and gave out $46,017 for various student programming.

The Collegiate Activities Board (CAB) requested the largest amount of money at $35,000. The Southwestern Oklahoma State Pharmacy Association was next at $15,930, while the SWOSU Panorama Committee requested $10,000. CAB received the largest allocation at $5,000 plus an additional $1,900 in the CAB account for the Bulldog Nation project. The pharmacy group was allocated $250 and Panorama received $150.

Student groups receiving the largest amounts of money besides CAB were the Student Oklahoma Education Association ($2,600), Computer Club ($2,558) and Chemistry Club ($2,500).

“We expect the best from our students and get it,” Dougherty said. “The most recent allocations process, long hours, their rating system and discernment process proved that once again.”

Funding criteria is prioritized in the following manner: 1) requests which benefit the student body on a campus-wide basis; 2) requests which partner a club or organization with the Collegiate Activities Board; 3) requests which add to the service component of the campus or community; and 4) requests which benefit students within the organization.

Allocations committee members in addition to Dougherty were students Brian Johnson, Cammi Valdez, Sarah Webb,  Britnee Goure, Joel Karadokus and Drew Hughes.
