SWOSU Students Attend Geospatial Summer Institute

Southwestern Oklahoma State University students Jessica Mengers of Mustang, Christopher Parton of Weatherford and Darcie Scoon of Hinton recently attended the Geospatial Summer Institute Fellowship Program held in Norman.

The institute provided students with the opportunity to study the application of geospatial science and technology. The students explored technological resources in remote sensing, global positioning systems and geographic systems. They learned about computer applications designed for these fields.

Madeline Baugher, principal investigator at SWOSU for the Oklahoma NASA Space Grant Consortium, said the program also included intensive hands-on geo-techniques training and tours to geospatial industries and government agencies.

The program, under the direction of Dr. May Yuan and scheduled each year in May, is supported by the Oklahoma NASA Space Grant Consortium.
