The main entrance to the Al Harris Library can be reached by ramps. The entrance doors on the north have an electric opener. The second floor and basement can be reached using the elevator on the south side of the building (adjacent to the south stairwell). The restrooms on the south end of the first floor are wheelchair accessible.
The library has one adjustable-height workstation in the PC area.
All of the networked PCs on the first floor of the library support Windows XP Accesibility Tools, which include a screen magnifier, a screen reader, and an on-screen keyboard utility.
The library provides wireless Internet access throughout the building.
The online catalog is accessible through the Web at http://libcat.swosu.edu. Any forms-capable web browser will work with the SWOSU library catalog. You can renew books and check the status of your library account by clicking the "Your Account" button at the top of the catalog's web pages.
Most of the library's online resources work with screen magnification and screen reading tools. In addition, most of these resources are available off-campus to current SWOSU students and employees. See the Off-Campus Library Resources page for details.
If you are unable to retrieve library materials or use library equipment (such as photocopiers, microfiche reader/printers, etc.) due to a disability or facility barriers (such as a non-functional elevator, doors, etc.), the Public Services staff at the Circulation Desk will provide you with assistance. The Public Services staff will retrieve library materials, pull individual periodical issues, photocopy specific articles, and provide other assistance as necessary. Please allow 24-hours for the Public Services staff to process your request to photocopy or retrieve your materials.
Distance Education students with a disability may submit photocopying using the library's Copy Service.
