Volleyball Ends Road Season

EDMOND, Okla. - Southwestern Oklahoma State University put the wraps on its final road game of the 2009 volleyball season against rival Central Oklahoma Tuesday in Edmond. SWOSU found its footing after a rough start but still ended up on the wrong side of the scoreboard, losing 25-10, 25-20 and 25-22.

The loss dropped SWOSU to 5-27 overall and 2-9 in Lone Star Conference play while UCO improved to 14-15 overall and 5-6 in league play. SWOSU will close its season with home games against Midwestern State on Thursday and Cameron on Saturday.

SWOSU's best game against UCO was the third. Both teams found themselves tied at 15 before UCO got itself some breathing room at 23-18. SWOSU then answered with four consecutive points and trailed 23-22 after a service ace by Kristie Porter. UCO then closed the game and match out by winning the final two points for a 25-22 win.

SWOSU was led by Stephanie Parker who had her best match of the year with 10 kills against only two errors in 17 attempts. It was the fourth time Parker had reached double figures in kills and the first time in 12 games.

As a team, SWOSU finished with a .183 attack percentage with 31 kills against 19 errors in 83 attacks. UCO hummed along at a .390 attack percentage with only 12 errors on 44 kills and 82 attacks.
