October 10, 2009
PORTALES, NM - Southwestern Oklahoma State University's volleyball team collected an easy 3-0 win over Eastern New Mexico University Saturday on the road, winning by scores of 25-21, 28-26, 25-17.
The victory ended a seven-game losing streak and puts momentum back on the Bulldogs side as they host Angelo State and Abilene Christian in a pair of matches over fall break. The Bulldogs improved to 5-22 with the win and 2-4 in the Lone Star Conference. Eastern New Mexico dropped to 5-16 overall and 0-6 in league play.
Emily Walter and Jennifer Naramore again were the big point producers for the Bulldogs. The two combined for 20 of the team's 34 kills with Walter's 11 leading the team. SWOSU finished the match with a .114 attack percentage with 21 errors against 31 kills in 114 attempts.
Defensively, SWOSU frustrated ENMU as they had more blocks (7-5) and more digs (50-48). Kayla Bader led SWOSU with 18 digs, more than double the total of her nearest teammate.
The Lady Zias hit just .024 as a team and had nearly as many errors (28) as kills (31) in the match.
