Soccer Tripped by ASU, 1-0
October 11, 2009
WEATHERFORD, Okla. - Southwestern Oklahoma State University put together a determined effort but were unable to come away with a win, losing 1-0 to Angelo State University in a women's soccer game Sunday afternoon in Weatherford.
Angelo State's Brandi DeBacker scored in the game's 26th minute after a scramble in front of SWOSU goal keeper Chelsey Dodd. Ashley Brown provided the assist on the score with a well-placed corner kick that arrived right in front of the SWOSU goal.
The Bulldogs were limited in their scoring opportunities because of the Rambelles tight defense. SWOSU came up with just nine shots, only four of which were on goal. ASU was not much more offensive minded producing just 11 shots, only three of which were on goal.
SWOSU dropped its overall record to 4-9-1 and 1-4 in the Lone Star Conference. ASU improved to 8-4 overall and 2-3 in league play.
SWOSU will next play Friday at Northeastern State University.
