Soccer Loses Pair on Road

LAS VEGAS, N.M. -- The Southwestern Oklahoma State University women’s soccer team was unable to shake a pesky scoreless streak that has now grown to three consecutive games, losing 2-0 to New Mexico Highlands.The loss was SWOSU’s second on its road trip that took them to Colorado State-Pueblo on Friday where they were beaten 7-0. The Bulldogs are now 2-7 overall and will begin conference play Friday, Oct. 3 at Texas A&M-Commerce. Highlands improved to 3-5-1 with the win.
NMHU’s Corey Strickland scored both goals of the games, the first in the 14th minute when she took a pass from a corner kick and knocked into the net. The last of which came in the game’s 89th minute just seconds before the final buzzer.
NMHU delivered 25 shots with 15 of them on goal. SWOSU managed five shots, four of which were on goal. In the earlier game against CSU-Pueblo, the Timberwolves had seven different players score as they improved to 4-3-1 on the year.
The game got away from SWOSU when the T-Wolves scored a pair of goals in a span of 38 seconds early in the second half to go ahead 4-0. SWOSU managed seven shots, with three on goal while CSU-P had 25 shots, 13 of which were on goal.
