WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Southwestern Oklahoma State University found the  offensive aggression that it had missed in recent games and used it for a 1-0 victory over in-state rival Northwestern Oklahoma State University Sunday afternoon in Weatherford.

The win improved SWOSU to 2-4 on the year and broke a three-game losing streak. SWOSU peppered the Ranger defense with 19 shots, eight more than the Bulldogs put together in its last three games combined.

Samantha Dobson scored the game’s only goal when she got free just inside the box and blasted a shot past the NWOSU keeper in the game’s 36th minute.

“I thought we played much better today and challenged for the loose balls,” Coach Joe Bradley said. “Good things will happen if you stay aggressive.”

The Bulldogs limited NWOSU to just seven shots. SWOSU used two goalkeepers in the game, Lauren Mason and Chelsey Dodd. Neither one had to face a shot on goal and were each credited with a half shutout.

SWOSU will next play Friday at home against NCAA Division II foe Harding University. Game time is at 5 p.m.
