Soccer Loses to Newman, 3-1

The loss dropped SWOSU to 1-4 on the season while Newman improved to 1-2-2. SWOSU will next play Sunday at home against in-state rival Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Start time is at 2 p.m.
Newman took the lead early in the game when Anna Redinger slipped through the SWOSU defense in the first two minutes and blasted one into the net for a 1-0 lead. The Lady Jets added goals in the 38th and the 57th minute to pull ahead 3-0.
The Bulldogs showed their fighting spirit and refused to fold as Lorina Salinas scored off a throw in the game’s 72nd minute. The goal for Salinas was her fourth of the season. She has scored four of SWOSU’s five team goals.

Newman was the more aggressive on the offensive end, taking 18 shots with nine of them on goal. SWOSU managed six shots, three of which were on goal.
Bulldog goalkeeper Becky Hilterbran came up with six saves against the Lady Jets pressing offensive attack.
