Soccer Falls at Northeastern, 2-0

Weatherford, OK - Southwestern Oklahoma State lost 2-0 to Northeastern State in a Lone Star Conference women’s soccer match Sunday in Tahlequah.

SWOSU, now 4-4 overall and 1-1 in league play, managed nine shots (seven of which were on goal) but could not score against the Lady Reds’ keeper Chelsey Hall.

NSU scored first as a result of an own goal when a SWOSU player knocked the ball into the Bulldogs’ goal in the game’s fifth minute. The Lady Reds added another goal for safe measure when Brittany Coursey scored off an assist by Robin Sutherland in the 39 th minute.

NSU outshot SWOSU 12-9 and attempted more corner kicks 4-1 than the Bulldogs.

SWOSU next plays Friday at the University of Central Oklahoma Invitational. Their opponent is Emporia State. Game time begins at 2 p.m. in Edmond.
