Women Finish in 13th Place

AMARILLO, Texas - Southwestern Oklahoma State University closed with a final round of 379 and slid one spot to finish in 13th place at the West Texas A&M University Women's Golf Stampede. The Bulldogs finished with a 746, ahead of Northwestern Oklahoma State, Lincoln University and Oklahoma Panhandle State in the 16-team field.

Tarleton State was the overall winner with a team score of 635, five strokes better than Central Oklahoma who shot a 640 after a final round of 311. Tarleton State's Jaqueline Lau and Kansas Newman's Linzi Allan shared top honors in the individual competition. Both finished with a 14-over par score of 156 over. The tournament was played over two days and 36 holes at the La Paloma Golf Club in Amarillo, Texas.

SWOSU's top finisher in the event was Lisa Roche who shot rounds of 85 and 88 for a 173, 31-over par. Roche tied with two others at 41st. Other SWOSU golfers and their finish are as follows: Amber Henderson was 63rd with rounds of 94 and 95 for a 189; Shelby Anderson was 65th following rounds of 94 and 98 for a 192; Sarah Simpson was 66th with rounds of 94 and 99 for 193; and Krystal Marshal was 72nd with scores of 100 and 98.

A total of 16 teams and 85 golfers were entered in the event.

The women will continue their fall schedule Oct. 5 at the Central Oklahoma Broncho Classic. The event will be held at Edmond's Kickingbird Golf Course.
