Golf Finishes 15th at A&M-C

POTTSBORO, Texas - Southwestern Oklahoma State University bettered its first-day score by 12 strokes but were unable to make up ground on the field and finished in 15th place at the Texas A&M-Commerce Invitational. The two-day, 36-hole tournament concluded Tuesday at Tanglewood Golf and Country Club in Pottsboro, Texas.

SWOSU turned in a second-day score of 375 and finished with a team total of 762. The Bulldogs finished just five strokes back behind East Central University who carded a 757.

Redlands Community College won the 16-team tournament with a score of 654, 13 strokes ahead of second-place Central Oklahoma. Cameron University was third with a 670 while Angelo State was fifth with a 683. Texas A&M-Commerce, the tournament host, finished in a sixth-place tie at 705.

ASU's Raelyn Smith won the tournament with an eight-over-par score of 152. She finished two strokes ahead of second-place Nicola Race of Redlands who was at 154.

SWOSU's top finisher was Tasha Marshall who placed in a tie for 26th with scores of 89-86 for a 175. Other SWSOU scores are as follows: Amber Henderson was 55th with 94-92 for a 186; Lisa Roche was 69th with a 98-95 for 193 and Krystal Marshall was 82nd with a 106-102-208.

SWOSU will next play March 30-31 at the West Texas A&M Invitational at the Tascosa Country Club in Amarillo, Texas.
