Women Finish in 10th

DUNCAN, Okla. – Southwestern Oklahoma State University was able to hang on to its 10th place hold at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Women’s Golf Tournament which completed its two-day run at the Territory Golf and Country Club in Duncan.

The Bulldogs shot a 356 on Tuesday after opening with a 347 to finish with a 703. SWOSU finished four shots better than 11th place East Central and five shots better than Newman University.

Tarleton State was the runaway champion shooting a 286-302 for a score of 588, 19 strokes ahead of second place University of Tulsa JV. Redlands Community College was third at 613 followed by Central Oklahoma in fourth at 616. A total of 12 teams and 72 golfers competed in the event.

Tarleton had the top two finishers in the tournament as Katy Ward and Carla Cooper each posted an-even par score of 144. Cooper shot a 76 on the second day after setting a course record 68 on Monday.

Tasha Marshall was the top SWOSU finisher, placing 27th with a score of 81-80=161, Ashley Underwood and Amber Henderson shared 60th place with scores of 36-over par, 180; Lisa Roche was 64th with a 91-91-182 and Chelsea Vowell was 71st with a score of 99-104-203.
