Men in 14th Place

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Southwestern Oklahoma State University opened with a 306 and a 313 on the first day of play at the St. Mary's Invitational men's golf tournament. The Bulldogs 36-hole score of 619 was good enough to place them 14th overall in the team race. The tournament continues Tuesday with the final 18 holes at the Dominion Golf and Country Club in San Antonio, Texas

St. Mary's, the tournament host, shot a 287 and 288 for a one-under 575 to take the team lead. Northeastern State is second 12 strokes back at 587. A total of 17 teams and 94 golfers are entered into the event. Two golfers from the University of Texas - Johnathan Schnitzer and Julio Vegas -- are the individual leaders with a six-under, 138.

SWOSU's best score came from Brad Leeper who shot back-to-back 75's and currently stands at six-over par (144) and in a tie for 32nd.
