Golf Team Finishes 13th

DUNCAN, Okla. - Southwestern Oklahoma State University slipped five spots on the final day of play at the Territory Classic and finished in a 13th place tie. The Bulldogs shot a 312 Tuesday, ending with a 616. SWOSU tied Lone Star Conference rival East Central University.

Dallas Baptist won the team title in a playoff with St. Edward's. Both schools shot a 578 over the 36-hole tournament. Abilene Christian was one shot back at 579 and finished third. A total of 17 teams and 90 golfers competed in the two-day tournament.

Other LSC schools and their finish are as follows: Midwestern State was fifth at 598, Central Oklahoma was seventh at 599, West Texas A&M was eighth at 601, Cameron University was 10th at 605, Texas A&M-Commerce was 15th at 627 and Southeastern Oklahoma was 16th with a 628.

Alex Carpenter of Abilene Christian won the individual title with a sparkling six-under 66 on Tuesday that left him at four-under, 140 for the tournament. He finished one stroke ahead of Nick Tacher of Dallas Baptist.

SWOSU's top finisher was Brad Leeper who placed 44th with a pair of 76's. Other SWOSU scores and their finish are as follows: Ben Claussen was 51st with a score of 76-78-154; Brad Dickson was 68th with a score of 78-80-158; Jordan Hudson was 77th with a score of 74-88-162 and Dakota Brown was 81st with a score of 86-78-164.

SWOSU's next tournament is Sept. 28-29 at the St. Mary's Rattler Invitational in San Antonio, Texas.
