Football to Play 6 Home Games

WEATHERFORD, Okla. - Southwestern Oklahoma State University's 2009 football schedule will feature six home games, including a matchup with NCAA Division II playoff qualifier West Texas A&M.

The Bulldogs will open the season Thursday, Aug. 27 at Emporia State, a school that competes in the Missouri Intercollegiate Athletic Association. The two teams have met only one other time with Emporia winning 26-6 in 1951.

SWOSU's first home game will be against Lone Star Conference South Division rival Eastern New Mexico on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 6 p.m. The ENMU game is the first of six games SWOSU will play at Milam Field during its 11-game schedule.

WTAMU, winners of the LSC three of the last four years, will be SWOSU's next home opponent on Saturday, Sept. 19. The 6:00 p.m. game will be the conclusion of Parents Day Activities that are scheduled throughout the day.

LSC North Division play begins at home Saturday, Oct. 3 against Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. Then back-to-back road games at Northeastern State (Oct. 10) and Central Oklahoma (Oct. 17) will follow.

SWOSU will conclude its 2009 season with three consecutive home games beginning with a Homecoming matchup with East Central on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. The Bulldogs will close with Oklahoma Panhandle State on Saturday, 31 and Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday, Nov. 7. Both games are scheduled to kickoff at 2 p.m.
