Team Finishes 20th at OSU

STILLWATER, Okla.. - Southwestern Oklahoma State University cross country star Chelsey Dillon continued her recent string of impressive finishes by placing 13th at the Oklahoma State University Jamboree Saturday in Stillwater, Okla. Dillon turned in a time of 19:23 on the five-kilometer OSU Cross Country course.

She finished behind only one other runner from the Lone Star Conference, Midwestern State's Sydney Cole who finished fifth with a time of 19:00. A total of 199 runners from 26 teams competed in the event which was being run for the 73rd year.

SWOSU as a team finished in 20th place with 460 points. The Bulldogs finished behind five other LSC schools that were racing in the event, Midwestern State was fourth, East Central was ninth, West Texas A&M 10th, Central Oklahoma 12th and Eastern New Mexico was 15th.

New Mexico Junior College was the overall team winner led by Kenyan Caroline Jepleting who overwhelmed the field, finishing nearly two minutes ahead of the second place runner. Jepleting's time of 16:54 was nine seconds faster than any finisher in the Division I race held earlier in the day.

Other SWOSU racers at the event and their finish and time are as follows: Sarah Hix was 92nd with a time of 21:23; Tatum Hoffman was 119th with a time of 21:54; Carissa Curtis was 141st with a time of 22:59, Micah Mathis was 164th with a time of 23:27 and Melissa Banks was 168th with a time of 23:44.

The team will next race Saturday, Oct. 17 at the University of Arkansas Chili Pepper Festival.
