Dillon Leads Team at MSSU

JOPLIN, MO -- Southwestern Oklahoma State University cross country runner Chelsey Dillon added to her already impressive list of early season accomplishments finishing 27th in a field of more than 360 runners at the Missouri Southern Stampede. Dillon ran the 5 kilometer race in 18:39 seconds, just five seconds behind the top Lone Star Conference finisher Sydney Cole of Midwestern State.

Miranda Walker and Allyssa Allison of the University of Arkansas were the top two finishers in the race. Walker turned in a time of 17:23, seven seconds better than her teammate who ran it in 17:30.

SWOSU as a team finished 26th out the 41 teams that entered the event. The Bulldogs finished ahead of Abilene Christian and Southeastern Oklahoma State. Midwestern State, the defending LSC champion finished eighth in the meet while the University of Central Oklahoma was 22nd and East Central University finished 23rd.

Other SWOSU runners and their finish are as follows. Sarah Hix was 175th with a time of 20:50; Patty Murphy was 190th with a time of 21:01; Tatum Hoffman was 241st with a time of 21:38; Melissa Banks was 260th with a time of 21:55; Micah Mathis was 267th with a time of 22:05 and Carissa Curtis was 271st with a time of 22:11.

SWOSU will run next on Oct. 3 at the Oklahoma State University Jamboree in Stillwater.
