Women Sign Three Players
July 13, 2009
WEATHERFORD, Okla. - New Southwestern Oklahoma State University women's basketball coach Kelsi Bond has released the names of three student-athletes who will join the Bulldog program in the fall of 2009. Guards Natasha Brown and twin sisters, SaRaya and MaRiah Oyler of Beaver become the third, fourth and fifth members of the Bulldogs to sign national letters of intent. They join Cashion's Ashley Rush and Thomas' Allyson McFeeters who made commitments to the program last fall.
Brown, a 5-7 junior transfer from Fresno City Community College, led her team to a 29-6 record and an undefeated 10-0 record in the Central Valley Conference. She was named to the first-team, all-conference squad and her team finished as the 10th rated team among all California junior college teams.
"Natasha is a point guard who brings athleticism and strength to our team," Bond said. "She comes from a good program where they have been running the same offense we hope to implement here."
The Oyler twins led the Beaver Dusters to the Class A state tournament and a 24-2 overall record. The 5-8 SaRaya was named to the Oklahoma Girls Basketball All-State team and was the leading scorer for the Small West squad during the All-State Games. She averaged 12 points for the Dusters during her senior year.
Her sister, MaRiah is 5-7, is expected to play at the shooting guard spot at SWOSU. She averaged 10 points per game and was named as an alternate to the all state team.
"Both girls are strong, tough and determined guards who had successful high school careers with great records at Beaver," Bond said. "They were also successful in track winning state in the two-mile relay and mile relays in back-to-back years."
