Women Lose to Tarleton

The loss was SWOSU's fourth straight and dropped its overall record to 3-9. Tarleton State improved to 8-6 with the win. The Bulldogs will wrap up Lone Star Conference South Division play Saturday at home against Midwestern State. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
Jennifer DeGarmo had 16 points and Jenna Sprague added 10 for the Bulldogs who were held to their lowest point total of the season and 24 points below their average of 64 points a game.
Tarleton had three players reach double figures led by JoAnne Jones with 19 points.
The TexAnns led from start to finish and began pulling away in the final minutes of the first half. TSU outscored SWOSU 20-7 over the last nine minutes and took a 29-15 lead at the break after Shelby Adamson canned a three-pointer at the buzzer.
Fortunes did not improve for SWOSU in the second half as Tarleton opened with a 14-3 run and had its advantage to 41-18 with 14:49 to play. The Texans lead grew to 30 points on three occasions before coming to rest on that mark as the final horn sounded.
SWOSU made just 33% of its attempts from the field on 17-of-52 shooting. Tarleton hit at a crisp 50% mark, making 26 of their 52 attempts. SWOSU turned the ball over 24 times to the TexAnns pressure while TSU committed 18 of their own.
