Lucy Ramon scored 19 points and Erin Wright added 13 for the Bulldogs who improved to 2-1 on the season. OPSU, which fell to 1-4 with the loss,was led by Kariz Bioni with 16 points.
SWOSU was never challenged in the game opening up a 16-2 lead over the game’s first 10 minutes. OPSU did not score its first basket from the field until just over 12 minutes had been played.
The Bulldogs nearly doubled the Aggies in the rebounding category pulling down 50 to OPSU’s 27. Shanessa Smith had a season high 16 rebounds to lead both teams.
SWOSU played without three starters in the game as Kadee Carter (broken hand), Tobey Beer (injured hip) and Jennifer DeGarmo (cut chin) watched the game on the sidelines.
Still the Bulldogs had considerable enough firepower to overwhelm the Aggies. The Bulldogs led by as many as 29 points in the second half and never had their margin trimmed below 20 for the remainder of the game.
SWOSU shot 44% making 25-of-57 shots while OPSU made just 13-of-51 shots for 26%.
The Bulldogs will next be in action Friday as they play Colorado Christian in Lakewood, Colo., and follow with a game against Western State Colorado the next day.
