Campbell Wins Second Award
January 26, 2009
RICHARDSON, Texas - Southwestern Oklahoma State University basketball star Jerard Campbell was recognized by the Lone Star Conference as the North Division Player-of-the-Week for his efforts in leading the Bulldogs to a 85-71 victory over Cameron University.
Campbell, a 6-3 junior forward from Del City, scored a season high 30 points and pulled down nine rebounds in the win. Campbell scored 21 of his 30 points in second half that saw SWOSU rally back from a three-point halftime deficit. He made 12-of-17 shots from the field for 71% and repeatedly punished the Aggies on the offensive boards grabbing eight missed Bulldog shots.
The award is Campbell's second of the season. He won the same award in November and is one of only two players in the North Division to win the award twice this year.
Campbell ranks second on the team in scoring averaging 13.5 points per game and leads the Bulldogs in rebounding at 6.3. He and his Bulldog teammates will next play Wednesday at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
The Bulldog, 11-7 overall and 2-1 in the division, will next be at home on Saturday, Jan. 31 against East Central University. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m.
