Men Run Record to 5-0

EDMOND, Okla. – Southwestern Oklahoma State University kept its unbeaten romp moving forward taking apart former instate rival Langston University by a score of 106-61 Saturday in Edmond. The Bulldogs, now 5-0 on the year, are averaging winning by an astonishing 25 point margin and appear to be picking up speed.

Kendall Smith had 23 points and Jerard Campbell added 21 as the Bulldogs made easy work of their NAIA opponent. Langston, which fell to 3-6 on the year, was led by Daniel Thomas with 27.

SWOSU had the game in hand early scoring the first 11 points and building a 19-2 advantage after six and-a-half minutes of play. The Bulldogs later grew their lead to 24 points before settling for a 44-25 margin at the break.

Smith, who finished with seven three pointers, hit his last trey with 9:13 to play to put SWOSU ahead 73-38. Smith hit 12 three pointers in his last two outings and helped to spark an incredible long-distance shooting exhibition by the Bulldogs.

SWOSU hit 12-of-29 three-pointers against Langston a night after tying the school record of 15 makes from beyond the arch in a 105-99 win against Washburn.

SWOSU put four other players in double figures, including Jordan Frosch with a career-best 18 points, Clarke Hale with 14 points, Matej Mrkic with a career-best 13 and Jose Garcia with 10.

The Bulldogs controlled the boards against Langston out rebounding the Lions by a 45-27 margin. Abdullah Lawal, Frosch and Garcia each had eight rebounds to lead the Bulldogs.
