WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Southwestern Oklahoma State University showed just how explosive this edition of the 2008-09 men’s basketball team promises to be with a lopsided blowout win over visiting St. Gregory’s winning 92-47.

Kenneth White had 20 points while Jerard Campbell and Kendall Smith had 18 points in the runaway win. SWOSU had six players reach double figures with Jose Garcia chipping in 12 and Clarke Hale and Jordan Frosch added 10 apiece. SWOSU improves to 2-0 with the win.

St. Gregory’s had just one player, Daniel Romano, reach double figures with 13 points.

SWOSU scored the game’s first nine points and kept that margin for quite some time leading 29-20 with 7:31 to play in the first half. The Bulldogs then went on a 21-2 run to close the first half and had the Cavs beaten by halftime, leading 50-22.

SWOSU built its margin to as many as 46 points in the second half before settling for the 45-point edge of the final score.

The Bulldogs made 28-of-72 shots for 39% while St. Gregory’s connected on just 18-of-54 attempts for 33%.

SWOSU forced STG into 25 turnovers, seven more than the 18 committed by the Bulldogs. Abdullah Lawal was his usual disruptive self on defense coming away with six steals. He has 13 steals in the Bulldogs first two games.

The Bulldogs will next play Saturday against the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. Gametime is expected to be at 8 p.m.
