John Austad returns for his second season as a student assistant basketball coach at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
Austad, a senior from Lawton, Okla., was a member of the SWOSU squad during the 2006-07 season where he played guard on a team that finished with a 17-11 record.
Austad played high school ball at Lawton MacArthur where he was the starting guard on a team that won more than 20 games and advanced to the Class 5A state tournament. His squad was beaten by eventual state champion Tulsa Washington.
Austad spent most of his youth in Hawaii before moving with his family to Lawton as a high school senior.
With SWOSU, Austad will assist with much of the practice and game preparations along with many other faces of the Bulldogs' basketball programs.
Austad is expected to graduate in May 2010 with a bachelor's degree in computer science.
