Baseball Tournament Bid Ended

April 25, 2009

LAWTON, Okla. - Southwestern Oklahoma State University's bid for a berth in the Lone Star Conference was ended Saturday as the Bulldogs were beaten 12-11 and 6-5 in a baseball doubleheader by Cameron University. The wins completed a four-game sweep by the Aggies over SWOSU.

The Bulldogs, who started the week in fourth place in the LSC standings, fell all the way to eighth with the four losses and out of the six-team tournament picture. SWOSU is now 28-25 overall and finish 21-23 in the LSC.

SWOSU will close its season Tuesday with a home doubleheader against Hillsdale Free Will Baptist. Two wins would allow the Bulldogs to finish with a 30-win season for the first time since 1998.

The games will be the final contest for three Bulldog seniors: outfielder Kenny Hare and pitchers Chris Morrison and Adam Phillips.
