March 3, 2009

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - Southwestern Oklahoma State University dug down again and pulled out another late-inning wonder rallying to beat Oklahoma Wesleyan, 8-4, in baseball action Tuesday. The win was SWOSU's 10th straight and marked another in a long string of successes for this year's team. The Bulldogs are now 14-6 and will rejoin Lone Star Conference play beginning Friday when they host East Central in a doubleheader.

SWOSU found itself tied with OWC at 3-3 through the first seven innings of play. The Bulldogs pushed in front with a pair of runs thanks to sacrifice fly by Jon-Andrew Martin and an RBI double by Ricky Kirby to go ahead 5-3.

The Bulldogs added some extra flavor in the ninth when they strung together five consecutive singles to lead off the inning which resulted in three runs. Tyler Powell, Kenny Hare, Ryan Salsbury, Travis Rose, and Martin all singled in succession for SWOSU.

Max Grocki got the win pitching one and one third inning of relief and upped his record to 2-0 on the year. Andrew Smith worked the final two innings to pick up the save.
