WEATHERFORD, Okla. -- The Southwestern Oklahoma State University baseball team hopes it can get ready for its spring games in some new digs.

The team’s new locker room will be located on the lower level of a new two-story pressbox currently under construction. SWOSU coach Scott Selby is busily trying to raise enough money to help fund the building of 31 lockers to house both his team and his coaching staff.”

“We are fortunate enough to have a commitment from a local alumnus who is willing to build each locker, stain it and set it for a nominal cost,” Selby said. “These lockers will be major-league quality. The new locker room will go a long ways in helping us continue to attract top-notch student athletes to this program.”

In an effort to help offset some of the projected cost of the new locker room, Selby has initiated an Adopt-A-Locker Project.

“Our baseball alumni have always wanted a chance to give back to the program that meant so much to them,” Selby said. “By adopting a locker, we can ensure that their contribution will leave a lasting and a permanent reminder to the Bulldogs of the future.”

Each adopted locker will have the former player’s name engraved on it, along with the years that they played at SWOSU and any honors that they may have won. Cost for a locker adoption is one-time fee of $400.

Those wanting to adopt a locker or have any other questions regarding the program are encouraged to call Selby at 580-330-1516 or email him at scott.selby@swosu.edu.
