Now entering his second season at the controls of the Southwestern Oklahoma State University baseball program, Scott Selby is busy  putting together the winning elements that have made him one of the most successful college baseball coaches in the state.

The veteran leader is known for his tough, hard-nosed approach that has served him and his teams well on the baseball diamond for  the  better part of 12 seasons fist at Southern Nazarene University and now at SWOSU.  Selby's  teams are often a direct reflection of the man, himself. On the field his players always show tireless determination and carry with them a sharp understanding of the game's finer points. His teams know the game inside and out and are quick to capitalize on any opportunity given to them by a careless or unsuspecting opponent.

The philosophy has worked as his teams have posted a 287-260 record (.525 winning percentage) during his tenure as a college coach. Selby's teams have won 30 or more games seven times and have become a fixture in conference post-season tournament play.

In Selby's last year at SNU in 2007, the Crimson Storm finished with a 35-21 record and advanced to the Sooner Athletic Conference Championship Game before losing to third-ranked Oklahoma City University. SNU then defeated the same OCU team a week later in the NAIA Regional Tournament before falling just short of qualifying for a berth in the NAIA College World Series.

Selby is a native of Duncan and went on to play collegiately at East Central University for head coach Ken Turner where he was an all-conference outfielder for the Tigers.

He served as an assistant at Yukon High School before taking over the SNU program in 1998 after it had been reinstated after several years of dormancy. Two years later, he had the Crimson Storm ranked in the NAIA's Top 20 for the first time in school history.

Selby and his wife, Stacey, have three children -- Spencer, Sydney and Seth.
